2005 Southern Building Show REMODELING SHOWCASE HOME highlights

The EarthCraftT Remodeling Showcase Project was a major attraction at the 2005 Southern Building Show. Attendees of the show were transported to the 1915, Arts and Crafts remodeling project to see the products and methods used in this unique and innovative application.

Tucked beneath the clay tiles of the home's roofline is a new second floor that adds 2,200 square feet of living space.  On the first floor, an open, more up-to-date living space replaced a boxy, old-style plan.  Yet the home retains the graceful pre-War feeling that draws many home buyers to older homes in historic neighborhoods.

During the upgrade, Remodeler Carl Seville anticipated that "the home will be very tight". "We expect that this home will exceed the limitations on air exchange, which will make it easier to heat in winter and easier to cool in the summer", Seville said.

Icynene® was installed on the entire envelope of the house - roofline, walls, floor bands; keeping the house healthy, efficient, and comfortable all year. Because Icynene® reduces noise transmission from the exterior of the home, the living spaces are very quiet.

Icynene is proud to have been used in many EarthCraftT homes.  EarthCraftT is the first green renovation program in the country that provides remodeling contractors with a comprehensive methodology to turn existing homes into efficient, healthy, and durable homes.
