Icynene - Healthier, Quieter, More Energy Efficient

Icynene Spray Foam Insulation Can Help

  • Fewer air pockets through which sound can travel
  • Great sound-dampening qualities

When your clients ask for structural soundproofing, insulation needs to address two main types of noise, airborne and flanking (see below). Icynene spray foam insulation reduces the transmission of both. This is especially true of light density, open-cell spray foam insulation, due to its natural sound-absorbing properties.

Airborne Noise Reduction

Airborne noise includes things like talking, stereos and televisions. Icynene spray foam insulation dramatically reduces the transmission of airborne noise by sealing the cracks and crevices that air and noise would otherwise pass through.

Flanking Noise Reduction

Flanking noise includes sounds originating within the walls, like plumbing runs. Open-cell spray foam insulation muffles this sound especially well by sealing all the way around the source. The lack of air gaps prevents airborne transmission of the sound waves, creating quieter spaces uninterrupted by noises like flushing toilets or running showers.
