Icynene - Healthier, Quieter, More Energy Efficient

ICYNENE LD-R-50® spray foam insulation is a revolutionary, renewable-based formula made using castor oil. This has many environmental and health-related advantages. LD-R-50 is a one-step performance material which both insulates and air seals a building for the lifetime of the structure. Icynene LD-R-50 is guaranteed to perform as specified for the life of the building.

Renewable Material

A portion of the polyol in the LD-C-50 formula has been substituted with castor oil:

  • Reduces the need for petroleum-based polyol
  • Is a natural/safe ingredient can be used in personal care products such as lip balm
  • Crops are non-irrigated, saving water supplies
  • Can be grown on marginal lands, which are not competitive with food production lands.

  • Expands ~100 times from liquid state

  • Low exothermic reaction temperature; will not harm coatings on electrical wiring, plumbing or other building components
  • Lower cost compared to closed-cell products
  • Lowest global warming potential (GWP of 1)
  • Approved for construction type: V

  • DC 315 @ 8 wet mils
  • No Burn Plus XD @ 10 wet mils
  • Flame Seal TB @ 12 wet mils
  • Alternatively, use a prescriptive ignition barrier

Limitations of Use

Should not be used:

  • Against substrates that may exceed 200°F at installation or in the future
  • Inside electrical outlets or junction boxes
  • Flotation purposes
  • Placed above the roofing membrane
  • Exterior surfaces, exposed and/or in contact with water
