Alberta Government set to offer energy efficiency incentives to homeowners
Alberta's Environment Minister Robin Campbell is expected to make an annoucement of a new energy efficient rebate program in October this year. The program would be funded in part by a fund that larger industrial organizations must pay into if they fail to meet their greenhouse gas reduction targets and also in part by the provincial government itself.
The rebate program would be seen to encourage Albertans to reduce their energy consumption but also think about how they can cut emissions. The program is similar to a previous rebate program the provincial government ran from 2009 to 2012 which saw $52million in rebates issued. Recently, the Quebec provincial government launched a new energy incentive program for its citizens.
