Legislation introduced for energy saving homes

You are here

A new legislation was introduced into the U.S House of Representatives to help promote cost savings in commercial and residential buildings says the NAHB.

An article from National Mortgage Professional has reported a bipartisan legislation introduced by Reps. Marsha Blackburn and Kurt Schrader is expected to help promote savings in commercial buildings and residential homes through the use of more cost-effective energy codes.  The legislation introduced into the House of Representatives would allow homeowners reduce their utility bills by being able to invest in energy saving materials such as windows and insulation like Icynene.

The Energy Savings and Building Efficiency Act also indicates that the U.S. Department of Energy would act as a technical advisor in the development of energy codes.  Any proposed code changes would be made available to the public, subject to the official process to allow for public comment and ensure it considers the concerns of small businesses. More information about the bipartisan legislation that was introduced can be found here.
